Yemen – Volker Türk calls for the release of detained UN and humanitarian workers

Turk stressed that “under no circumstances may United Nations employees be detained, let alone bring criminal charges against them, simply for carrying out their vital work in the service of the Yemeni people.”

In a statement on the occasion International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing PersonnelThe High Commissioner saluted those UN staff and other humanitarian workers who are also detained in Yemen, and the thousands of UN staff who work in the most difficult circumstances, in crises and conflicts, to serve communities in need of support.
