المملكة: "human rights" Adopts a resolution submitted by Saudi Arabia condemning Iran’s attacks and demanding its accountability

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with other countries, presented Cooperation Councilfor the Arab States of the Gulf and The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Today, a draft resolution to Human Rights Council regarding the human rights repercussions of the Iranian attacks that targeted the countries of the region, as the Council adopted the resolution unanimously without any vote.
Today, the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted, unanimously and without a vote, a draft resolution submitted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, regarding the human rights repercussions of the Iranian attacks that targeted the countries of the region, after holding an urgent discussion in the Council at the request of the Gulf states. And Jordan.
In the Kingdom’s statement during the urgent discussion, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdul Mohsen bin Majid bin Khathailah, affirmed the Kingdom’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks on the Kingdom and the countries of the region, which represent a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, and a clear violation of international conventions and international law, stressing that targeting countries that are not a party to the conflict is a blatant aggression that cannot be justified or accepted.
Violation of international law
The approved resolution condemned the attacks launched by Iran in the strongest terms, considering them a violation of international law, a serious violation of international peace and security, and a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, while stressing the need to ensure accountability for these violations.
The resolution also condemned any actions or threats by Iran aimed at obstructing or interfering in international navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
The resolution expressed deep concern. In light of the Iranian attacks that targeted energy infrastructure, and the serious repercussions they may have on the enjoyment of human rights, the resolution called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to comply with Security Council Resolution No. (2817) and to stop practices that threaten the security and stability of the region.
