94.1% of Abu Dhabi residents feel safe when walking at night

The Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi announced the results of the sixth cycle of the Quality of Life Survey, which was launched in 2025, which showed a continued increase in a number of key social indicators in the emirate. The results showed a continuous growth in the volume of community participation, as the number of participants increased from 51,413 participants in 2018 to 115,801 participants in 2025, which reflects the growing awareness of community members about the importance of contributing to policy formulation and developing services based on their needs. The Quality of Life Questionnaire represents a tool for measuring the voice of society, which supports decision-making based on data. The Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi launched the seventh cycle of the Quality of Life Questionnaire in March 2026, and will last for three months.

The sixth session recorded high levels of social cohesion indicators, as satisfaction with social relationships reached 75.8%, and satisfaction with family life reached 78.4%, compared to 70.9% in the 2024 results. The percentage of feeling safe when walking at night reached 94.1%, which reflects the strength of the safety and security system in the emirate. In the housing sector, housing satisfaction recorded 71.5%, a significant improvement compared to the previous year, which confirms the quality of the residential infrastructure.

In terms of subjective well-being, the average happiness rose to 7.88 points out of 10, in an upward trend in recent years, and the index of satisfaction with work-life balance rose to 51.1% compared to 46.8% in the previous year. The results of the questionnaire over the past years have contributed to supporting the launch and development of a number of social strategies and initiatives in the emirate, which reflects the transformation of data into practical decisions and concrete programs that serve various segments of society.

Acting Director General of Strategic and Digital Affairs, Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, said: “The Quality of Life Questionnaire represents a major tool for measuring the voice of society in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and it is an essential pillar in supporting data-based decision-making. The results of the sixth session reflect the level of community interaction and trust.

It highlights areas of improvement and challenges that we are working to address through evidence-based policies and initiatives. We invite all members of society to participate in the seventh session, because every individual’s voice contributes to building a more cohesive society and a better quality of life for current and future generations.”
