Dubai Police develops platforms to immediately deal with rain and water accumulations

Director of the General Department of Operations at Dubai Police, Brigadier General Turki Abdul Rahman bin Faris, revealed the implementation of several axes to deal with low torque and the accompanying weather fluctuations and heavy rainfall, including the creation of platforms that monitor areas of rain accumulation and roads that witness smooth traffic and feeding them to the “Waze” navigation application to guide road users, raise the readiness of the operations room, and work with full energy to deal with emergency situations and intensify field presence.

Brigadier General Turki Abdul Rahman bin Faris said, in a video broadcast by the Dubai Government Media Office, that Dubai Police dealt with the “low intensity” and the accompanying fluctuations in weather, through several axes that included prior coordination with partners in the emirate, and developing plans to deal with cases of heavy rain.
He added that the second axis was to increase the readiness of the operating room and operate at full capacity to deal with emergency situations and intervene immediately upon receiving reports via the emergency line, or through live monitoring of the streets.

He pointed out that the third axis represented the development of special platforms to deal with the depression, which included a smart platform to monitor the streets and intersections where rainwater collects, and feed it directly through another platform to the “Waze” navigation application so that members of the public can immediately identify the appropriate roads that witness a smooth flow of traffic, or that do not have any gatherings that could impede traffic movement.

Bin Faris continued that the fourth axis relates to the field aspect, as Dubai Police has intensified its patrol presence in places of rain accumulation and intersections to provide immediate assistance to road users and guide them to the appropriate paths, in addition to raising the state of readiness of ground rescue teams to immediately deal with reports of accidents and emergency situations.

In addition, Dubai Police has made it possible, if the vehicle is exposed to any damage due to weather conditions, to easily apply for a “To Whom It May Concern” certificate through the services list in the smartphone application via mobile phones.
She called on members of the public to adhere to the instructions issued by the specialized authorities until the weather fluctuations end, noting the need to leave sufficient distance while driving, ensure the safety of tires, reduce speed and be cautious while driving on wet roads, avoid using brakes suddenly, stay away from valley streams and pools of water, and avoid going to the sea and beaches, pointing out direct communication in emergency situations via the number 999 and in the event of inquiries on the number 901.
