9 horses from 7 countries ignite the competition for the Dubai World Cup title

Dubai, March 27 / WAM / The ninth and main round of the Dubai World Cup, scheduled for its 30th edition tomorrow at the Meydan Racecourse, is witnessing strong competition among the elite horses, as it is held on the sand track for a distance of 2,000 metres, competing for prizes amounting to 12 million US dollars, sponsored by Emirates Airlines.

9 horses representing 7 countries will participate in this race, namely Qatar with both horses, “Hut Show” (champion of the last edition), and “Tambarumba”, and Britain with both horses, “Imperial Emperor” and “Heart of Honor”.

In addition to one horse for each of the Emirates “Meydan”, Japan “Forever Young”, the United States of America “Magnitude”, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia “Walk of Stars”, and Russia “Tab Leader”.

The horse Thunder Snow, which belongs to Godolphin, still has the best time in this race, which is 2:01:38 minutes.

Over the past 29 editions, UAE horses have won the title 13 times, through “Singspiel” 1997, “Al-Mutawakel” 1999, “Dubai Millennium” 2000, “Street Cry” 2002, “Moon Blood” 2003, “Electrochonist” 2006, “Invasor” 2007, and “Montrosso.” 2012, “African Story” 2014, “Prince Bishop” 2015, “Thunder Snow” 2018 and 2019, and “Mystic Jade” 2021.

While American horses won 8 titles with “Cigar” in the first edition in 1996, “Silver Charm” in 1998, “Captain Steve” in 2001, “Pleasantly Perfect” in 2004, “Roses in My” in 2005, “Curlin” in 2008, “Well Armed” in 2009, and “California Chrome” in 2016.

Saudi horses won three times: “Arrogate” in 2017, “Country Grammar” in 2022, and “Laurel River” in 2024.

Japanese horses also won twice, with “Victory Pisa” in 2011 and “Ushba Tesoro” in 2023, while the title was won once by the Brazilian horse “Gloria de Cambio” in 2010, the Australian “Animal Kingdom” in 2013, and finally the Qatari “Hut Show” in 2025.
