OpenAI raises $122 billion in new financing

OpenAI announced that its market value reached $852 billion in a recent financing that raised $122 billion.
This huge sum exceeded initial expectations, reflecting the significant rise in computing costs, and comes amid continuing questions about the ability of OpenAI and other artificial intelligence companies to generate enough revenue to cover their expenses.
“The capital currently invested is contributing to the creation of the AI infrastructure itself,” OpenAI said in a blog post.
“Over time, this value will return to the economy, companies, societies, and increasingly to individuals,” she added.
The company that developed the GPT chat program indicated that its revenue rate of two billion dollars per month is witnessing rapid growth.
The financing phase included a variety of partners, including Amazon, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and SoftBank, according to OpenAI.
In an unusual move, it was reported that about $3 billion had been raised from individual investors.
GBT Chat is at the forefront of consumer AI applications, with more than 900 million weekly active users, and nearly 50 million subscribers.
The use of the electronic search engine in GBT Chat increased three times within one year, according to the developer company.
“These are not just growth achievements, but show that advanced artificial intelligence is becoming part of the daily lives of people around the world,” the San Francisco-based startup said in the post.
Last February, the company began displaying ads to its users who are not subscribed to the premium subscription package, with the aim of increasing its revenues.
OpenAI also announced the development of an application that combines GPT chat, web browsing, a codex programming tool, and intelligent capabilities that enable digital assistants to carry out tasks independently.
This huge financing comes in light of expectations that OpenAI is planning to transform into a public joint stock company this year, as competition intensifies in the artificial intelligence sector.
Anthropic, the arch-rival founded by former OpenAI employees, continues to gain momentum and make headlines with its outstanding CloudAI models.
Anthropic raised $30 billion in a funding round earlier this year.
Google’s “Gemini” artificial intelligence model has emerged as another strong competitor, and Elon Musk’s “XAI” model has attracted investments and users.
