It called for strengthening supervision over children. Sharjah Police warns against swimming in places where rainwater collects

The Sharjah Police General Command warned parents of the danger of approaching or swimming in places where rainwater and valleys collect, as it may pose serious risks to their safety.

She stressed the need to monitor the whereabouts of their children, noting that rainwater pools are characterized by varying depths and difficulty in assessing their danger, in addition to the possibility of sudden slides and the presence of unstable mud formations, which increases the risk of drowning accidents or serious injuries.

In detail, the Operations Room received a report at exactly 7:05 pm yesterday, Wednesday, about a child drowning in a rainwater pool. Immediately, the specialized teams moved to the site of the accident and began rescue and ambulance procedures. The child was taken to the hospital, but he died.

The Sharjah Police General Command expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the child’s family, stressing the importance of strengthening family control, educating children about the dangers of swimming in undesignated sites, and adhering to preventive guidelines, which contributes to protecting them from potential dangers.

She stressed that safety is a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s cooperation, calling on community members to report any behavior that may expose children to danger, via the number 901 for general inquiries and non-emergency cases, or by calling the number 999 in urgent and emergency cases.
