Austria affirms its neutrality and rejects the use of its airspace for American military purposes


Reported , that it has been rejected since the outbreak of all American requests for military crossing of its airspace, stressing its adherence to its neutrality.

Austrian Defense Ministry spokesman Michael Bauer said: "Requests have already been submitted and were rejected from the beginning"explaining that "Every time it comes to a country at war, it is rejected"

Criticism of Trump

Austria has been a neutral country since 1955. It is bordered to the north, south and east by members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and neutral Switzerland to the west.

US President Donald Trump criticized the European member states of the alliance, such as France and Spain, for refusing to allow the use of their airspace in the war against Iran.

In mid-March, Switzerland announced its refusal to use its airspace in line with its doctrine of military neutrality.
