"Climate change and environment" An inspection tour is carried out on citizens’ farms following the weather condition

Dubai, April 2 / WAM / The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment carried out an extensive field tour that included a number of citizen farmers in the country as part of its continued keenness to follow up on the progress of work in the national food security system and support the local agricultural sector.

His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, accompanied by a number of Ministry officials, closely monitored the efficiency of the agricultural work system and the continuity of the flow of local production to supply the country’s markets with their needs for crops and fresh products with high efficiency and flexibility.

The tour included inspecting the conditions of the farms and ensuring their safety and the safety of agricultural crops following the weather and rain that the country witnessed recently.

This step comes within the framework of the Ministry’s continuous support to farmers, providing all means of technical and guidance support to ensure that internal supply chains are not affected, and highlighting the ability of the agricultural sector in the country to adapt to changes and transform challenges into opportunities to enhance the sustainability of production.

His Excellency and the Ministry team held direct meetings with farmers to listen to their aspirations, identify the daily challenges they face, and discuss mechanisms for joint work to find practical and effective solutions that support the continuity of their businesses and increase the competitiveness of the UAE agricultural product.

His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi stressed that these field visits reflect the Ministry’s keenness to strengthen the UAE’s food security components as a top priority.

His Excellency said: “The changes we are witnessing today prove beyond a doubt that national farms and local production represent the safety valve and the basic foundation for ensuring the stability of our markets. Our going to the field today is a clear message that the Ministry supports the Emirati farmer and considers him our first line of defense and an indispensable strategic partner.”

He added that the state supports this strategic direction through a package of ambitious initiatives and projects, and as a culmination of these efforts, we are eagerly looking forward to the UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition, which is being held in its second edition under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Presidential Office, in Al Ain during the period from April 22 to 26. This event represents a strategic platform to highlight the strength of the agricultural sector in the country and confirms our firm commitment to transforming our national farms into economic tributaries. Strong and capable of meeting the aspirations of our society in all circumstances.”

His Excellency stressed that these field tours are not an exceptional measure, but rather part of a sustainable work methodology, indicating that the inspection visits will continue and intensify during the coming period to include more national farms and vital facilities related to the food security system in the various emirates of the country.

He explained that this continuous field presence aims to keep the Ministry accurately and directly informed of the progress of operations, to ensure the highest levels of efficiency and readiness to meet the needs of society at all times.

In a related context, the Ministry provides pivotal support to farmers through an integrated system of continuous agricultural extension services and specialized technical consultations, in addition to organizing periodic workshops to inform them of the latest innovative agricultural technologies and tools that enable them to practice agriculture efficiently and proactively.

These efforts come within the Ministry’s ambitious plans to transform various local farms towards adopting modern technologies and smart systems to increase productivity and improve breeds, ensuring that the requirements of the local market are met in accordance with the highest standards of quality and competitiveness.

The state supports this strategic direction through a package of specific initiatives and projects, most notably the “National Agricultural Center,” which represents a leading national platform for developing the sector and unifying efforts to empower Emirati farmers and increase the local product.

These field tours come to complement the Ministry’s comprehensive efforts to monitor ports and facilitate import movement, ensuring that the ideal balance is achieved between the strength of local production and the smoothness of external supply chains, to provide safe and sustainable food in all circumstances.
