Abu Dhabi Police establishes a culture of community security and discusses dangerous traffic behaviors in the “Maqam Council”

The Abu Dhabi Police General Command, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Councils in the Office of Citizens and Community Affairs at the Presidential Office, organized a dialogue session entitled “Promoting the Concept of Community Security is a Shared Community Responsibility,” at the Maqam Council in Al Ain, with the participation of a number of community members and members of the “We Are All Police” program, coinciding with the initiatives of the Year of the Family 2026.

Colonel Sultan Subeih Al-Manai, Director of Al-Maqam Center, stressed the Abu Dhabi Police’s keenness to organize purposeful community councils concerned with discussing societal phenomena, because of their pivotal role in enhancing security and building a conscious and safe generation, pointing to the importance of spreading awareness, preventing negative behaviors, and consolidating positive values, in a way that contributes to achieving community security and stability, stressing that social responsibility is a shared responsibility between Abu Dhabi Police and various institutions and entities.

Colonel Ahmed Abdullah Al Sharifi, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Security Patrols Department in Al Ain for Traffic Affairs, addressed the importance of adhering to traffic laws and regulations as a basic foundation for promoting positive behaviour, reviewing the most prominent wrong traffic behaviours, such as: excessive speed, being distracted from other than the road, sudden deviation, not wearing a seat belt, not stopping to cross pedestrians, not leaving a sufficient safety distance, and crossing a red light, and the serious risks they pose to drivers and community members.

He explained that the Traffic Department and Security Patrols continue their preventive efforts by implementing awareness lectures, guidance campaigns, and community programs directed at various groups, which contribute to raising the level of traffic awareness and enhancing road security.

Lieutenant Colonel Ali Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of Al Maqam Center for Crime Affairs, reviewed the efforts of Abu Dhabi Police in providing security services to the community, pointing out the daily handling of reports related to emergency situations and community phenomena, and stressing the readiness of police stations to work around the clock to provide quality services to all segments of society, including senior citizens.

Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Humaid Al Darmaki, Head of the Center’s Criminal Investigation and Investigation Department, called on community members to be wary of calls and messages received from unknown parties, which aim for electronic fraud and blackmail, especially those targeting teenagers and children, stressing the importance of parents following up on their children and making them aware of the dangers of these practices, and the necessity of reporting any suspicious cases.

Captain Jaber Nasser Al Ahbabi, from Al Maqam Center, touched on the role of the family in educating children about the dangers of the scourge of drugs, the importance of protecting them from bad companions, and enhancing cooperation with the competent authorities to prevent this scourge that threatens the security and stability of society.

The council included the presentation of a number of visual awareness materials that addressed wrong traffic behavior and the necessity of adhering to the laws, which contributes to consolidating the concepts of traffic safety among members of society.

The council, which witnessed positive interaction from the attendees, concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing to organize community awareness councils, as an effective platform for promoting dialogue and spreading a culture of prevention, in a way that supports family stability and contributes to building a safe and cohesive society.
