Cooperation between the Gulf Statistical Center and the Arab Gulf University to enhance research and build capacity

The Statistical Center for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf signed a cooperation program with the Arabian Gulf University, which includes a number of areas of joint work in scientific research, building statistical capabilities, and exchanging knowledge and technical expertise.
The signing came during the Centre’s reception, at its headquarters in Muscat, of Dr. Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of the Arabian Gulf University, and his accompanying delegation. They were received by Her Excellency Intisar bint Abdullah Al Wahaibiyya, Director General of the Centre, within the framework of strengthening institutional partnerships and developing cooperation between the two sides.
During the visit, the delegation viewed a visual presentation presented by the Center, in which it reviewed its most prominent work processes and initiatives in support of the Gulf statistical system, and its role in providing reliable statistical data and indicators to support decision makers and promote sustainable development in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in a number of areas of common interest, including scientific research, building statistical capabilities, exchanging knowledge and technical expertise, and organizing joint scientific events and seminars, which contribute to supporting the development of statistical work and enhancing integration between academic institutions and statistical institutions in the GCC countries.
The program includes developing areas of cooperation that include exchanging studies and research, implementing specialized training programs, organizing joint scientific conferences and workshops, in addition to exchanging technical and advisory visits, in a way that enhances integration between the two sides in supporting joint Gulf statistical work.
The two sides agreed to form a joint committee to follow up on the activation of areas of cooperation, and to develop an implementation plan for the proposed initiatives, in a way that contributes to supporting the building of an integrated Gulf statistical knowledge society and enhancing the use of data in supporting development paths in the GCC countries.
The cooperation comes in line with the directions of the strategic plan for joint Gulf statistical work “2026-2030”, which aims to develop a smart and reliable Gulf statistical system, strengthen scientific and academic partnerships, and build qualified statistical cadres capable of employing data science and advanced statistical analysis in supporting policies and decision-making in the GCC countries.
