Sharjah Digital and"Dell Technologies" They promote the adoption of artificial intelligence in government work

Sharjah, April 8, 2017 – Sharjah Digital Department today signed a memorandum of understanding with Dell Technologies to launch an integrated program to build institutional capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence.
The memorandum was signed by Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Department, and Walid Yahya, General Manager of Dell Technologies in the Gulf, in the presence of Engineer Lamia Obaid Al Hussan Al Shamsi, Director of the Sharjah Digital Department, and Majid Al Marri, Director of the Human Resources Department in Sharjah.
The memorandum stipulates the implementation of an integrated program to build institutional capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence, which includes applied training, knowledge transfer, and the organization of sessions and workshops targeting executive and administrative leadership, in addition to technical competencies in various sectors.
The program aims to develop practical models on how to use and benefit from artificial intelligence applications within the work environment and transform these technologies from experimental tools into operational solutions that support decision-making, enhance efficiency and contribute to the development of more innovative, proactive and smooth government services.
The initiative also enhances the readiness of government cadres to keep pace with rapid technological transformations and establishes the use of artificial intelligence as an essential element in the design of future services, which will reflect positively on customers’ experience and quality of life in the emirate.
Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi stressed that the memorandum represents a strategic step within the path of digital transformation in the emirate, saying: We do not view artificial intelligence as a technical tool only, but as a major driver for redesigning government work in Sharjah, and through this partnership we will work to build sustainable institutional capabilities that enable government agencies to employ artificial intelligence in developing a more efficient and innovative integrated services system that enhances the quality of life.
He added that the memorandum comes within the implementation of the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026-2028 and aims to raise the readiness of government agencies in adopting artificial intelligence technologies and enhancing integration between systems and data, in a way that supports the development of a smart and interconnected government system.
He pointed out that the partnership with the private sector represents an essential pillar in achieving this transformation through transferring knowledge, benefiting from the best global experiences and practices, and accelerating the adoption of advanced digital solutions.
For his part, Walid Yahya said, “We are happy with our partnership with the Sharjah Digital Department towards a future based on adopting the latest digital technologies, most notably artificial intelligence. Through cooperation, we seek to transfer our global expertise and enable government agencies to employ the latest technologies to build more quality and effective business models.”
The memorandum comes within the framework of the role of the Sharjah Digital Department in leading the digital transformation at the emirate level through developing policies, building capabilities, and enhancing integration between government agencies, which contributes to building a sustainable and interconnected digital system that supports the digital economy, improves the quality of services provided to individuals and the business sector, and puts people at the heart of the development process.
