"Mohammed bin Khalid Cultural Centre" Organizes heritage events within the Year of the Family

Al Ain, April 10, 2018 (WAM) – The Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural Center organized a group of heritage events and workshops aimed at strengthening national identity and preserving authentic Emirati crafts in the hearts of new generations, under the directives of Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions, and as part of the Center’s initiatives within the “Year of the Family” 2026.

The center, in cooperation with the Andalus Academy School, organized a workshop entitled “Rope Twisting” as part of the Emirati Heritage Crafts Programme, which discussed the skill of rope twisting and ancient methods of use in marine and Bedouin life, which contributes to introducing students to this Emirati craft, which reflects the precision of traditional craftsmanship and its importance in the lives of ancestors, in addition to a general workshop entitled “Modern Sadu”, which discussed the aesthetics of traditional Emirati weaving and methods of employing Sadu in modern design and art.

As part of the Zayed Heritage Heritage Programme, a workshop was held entitled “Our Day is Our Rest,” which included a tour through various heritage stations, during which it reviewed stories and situations from the ancient Emirati environment, and shed light on the societal and human values ​​that form the basis of Emirati identity.
