Abu Dhabi Police warns against “drifting” during the rain

Abu Dhabi Police warned drivers of the danger of reckless and reckless driving, drifting, risking entering valleys, and not adhering to traffic laws, especially during volatile weather conditions.
The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has been witnessing light to moderate rain since this morning, while Abu Dhabi Police called on drivers to adhere to safe driving and safety measures and not to occupy anything other than the road during rainfall and in volatile weather conditions.
The police agencies in the country are tightening their procedures and not being lenient in confronting the perpetrators of vehicle parading and drifting violations. In previous years, they arrested young people for driving their cars in a reckless manner and not adhering to the laws and traffic regulations during the rain. They drifted and paraded in the street in a dangerous manner, and they were caught after monitoring and circulating video clips of their dangerous behavior on social media.
In the same context, the Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police confirmed that driving in rainy conditions requires following the necessary measures to enhance safety for the vehicle driver and his companions by keeping the car windows clean to obtain a clear view and maintaining the car’s front lights to improve visibility when driving.
She stressed the importance of staying away from valleys and places where water collects, avoiding approaching electrical extension lines, exposed places and close to trees during rainfall, and adhering to safety instructions and guidelines in order to preserve everyone’s safety.
It urged drivers to adhere to the specified speeds while activating the road speed reduction system, maintain an appropriate safety distance from other vehicles, not press the brakes suddenly, slow down significantly when turning to prevent the car from sliding, and pull to the side of the road if feeling a lack of vision while driving.
