The United States begins mine clearance operations in the Strait of Hormuz

US Central Command announced today, Saturday, that its forces began preparing conditions for clearing mines in the Strait of Hormuz, through the destroyers Frank Peterson and Michael Murphy, which crossed the Strait of Hormuz and carried out operations in the Gulf for the naval forces.

She said in a statement that the mission of the two destroyers aims to ensure that the Strait of Hormuz is free of mines planted by the Revolutionary Guard, noting that the construction of a new shipping lane has begun, with this lane being shared with the maritime transport sector.

The command confirmed that it may use additional American forces and underwater drones to remove mines.
