Two main differences stand behind the failure of the Islamabad negotiations

After announcing the failure of negotiations between the United States and Iran, a spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that “views differed on two important issues.” The spokesman added: “This did not lead to an agreement.”

The Iranian official did not reveal the nature of the two disputes he spoke about, but the American news site Axios quoted a source familiar with the talks that began on Saturday and ended Sunday morning in Islamabad, saying that they relate to Iran’s demand to control the Strait of Hormuz, and its refusal to give up its stock of enriched uranium.
