The UAE and Uzbekistan are discussing ways to enhance partnership in the sectors of the new economy

DUBAI, 13 APRIL / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, discussed at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in Dubai today with a delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan ways to enhance economic and investment relations between the two countries during the next stage, especially in priority sectors, including the new economy, tourism, aviation, financial technology, transportation, renewable energy, agriculture, food security, logistics services, energy, renewable energy, industry, infrastructure, and banking services in order to enhance economic integration between the two countries. It supports their orientations towards building sustainable development partnerships.

The delegation included His Excellency Jamshid Khojayev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; His Excellency Laziz Kudyratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade; His Excellency Shokhrukh Gulamov, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade; His Excellency Jasur Chorev, Deputy Minister of Transport, along with a number of officials in the Uzbek government.

In this context, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq stressed that the UAE and Uzbekistan share growing economic and investment relations, in light of the directives of the wise leadership of the two friendly countries, which reflects the keenness of both sides to strengthen the frameworks of bilateral cooperation and expand areas of partnership in various sectors of common interest.

His Excellency said: The UAE is keen to continue strengthening its economic and investment relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan, and push it towards further growth and development, in a way that supports economic growth paths and keeps pace with the aspirations of the two friendly countries, especially with the presence of more than 2,300 Uzbek companies currently operating in the UAE markets.

His Excellency added: The meeting represents a new step towards exploring promising economic opportunities in the markets of the two countries, and discussing ways to benefit from them and transform them into practical partnerships and joint projects that contribute to enhancing economic cooperation between the two sides, increasing the flow of mutual investments, as well as supporting direct communication channels between the Emirati and Uzbek business communities, in a way that enhances opportunities for future cooperation.

Tourism cooperation between the two countries has witnessed remarkable growth, as the number of Uzbek tourists to the UAE increased from 57,575 in 2024 to 71,969 in 2025, a growth rate of approximately 25%, which reflects the growing attractiveness of the Emirati destination in the Uzbek market.

The UAE side reviewed a number of economic policies and measures taken by the UAE to enhance the business and economic environment, continue economic openness to the world, and establish fruitful economic partnerships with vital markets regionally and internationally, as well as the efforts made to enhance the attractiveness of the UAE market for new economy projects and companies, and support the competitiveness of the economic legislative environment, which contributed to strengthening the UAE’s position as a leading economic center for business and investment at the regional and global levels.

The meeting touched on the economic facilitation packages and new measures recently announced by the UAE that support the business and investment sector in the country in light of the current economic and geopolitical changes, including supporting financial liquidity for companies, reducing operational burdens, and enhancing customs facilities, which contributes to empowering the private sector and enhancing the stability of economic activities and the continuity of their growth, and opens a wider scope for partners in the Uzbek business community to benefit from the flexible and stimulating business environment in the UAE.

The two sides discussed enhancing their joint cooperation through the “Investobia Tashkent” event, which will be held in partnership with the Tashkent International Investment Forum, with the aim of exploring promising economic and investment opportunities in the new economy sectors in the Emirati, Uzbek and Asian markets.
