Communication between Washington and Iran continues

CBS News, citing American officials, announced on Monday that communication between the American delegation and Iranian leaders is continuing and there is progress towards trying to reach an agreement.

American officials added that Washington and Tehran expressed a common interest in continuing efforts and working to reach a diplomatic settlement, within the framework of ongoing efforts to contain tensions and enhance the path of understanding between the two sides.

American officials confirmed that the mediators are making intense efforts to push Tehran to reconsider the American proposal that was put forward during the Islamabad talks, as part of efforts aimed at bringing the views of the two sides closer together and moving the negotiation process forward.

A Pakistani government official said that his country is making intense efforts to bring Tehran and Washington back to the negotiating table.
