The US Army announces that 6 ships are prevented from leaving Iranian ports

The US military announced on Tuesday that it had succeeded in preventing six ships from leaving Iranian ports during the first 24 hours of imposing a naval blockade on the Islamic Republic.

The US Central Command (Centcom), which is responsible for US forces in the Middle East, said that more than 10,000 US soldiers, more than ten warships and dozens of aircraft are participating in the mission.

She added in a post on the

She continued, “The blockade is applied in a non-discriminatory manner to the ships of all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.”

But despite Centcom’s confirmation that no ship was able to cross the blockade, tracking data from Kpler showed that at least two ships left Iranian ports and crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

Iranian forces had effectively closed the Strait after the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran on February 28, before the United States announced on Sunday the imposition of its naval blockade following the failure of peace talks with Tehran.
