Chinese airlines cancel international flights as global fuel prices rise

Several Chinese state-owned airlines have begun canceling international flights ahead of one of the country’s busiest travel periods, with fuel prices rising globally, according to CNN.

The affected destinations included countries in Southeast Asia and Australia, and CNN said that more than 10 Chinese travelers confirmed that their flights to popular tourist destinations, which were operated by various Chinese airlines, were canceled during the past few days.

None of the Chinese airlines officially announced these cancellations.

CNN said that China Eastern Airlines and Sichuan Airlines confirmed the cancellations and cited a “change in policies” as the reason for that.
