Today, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, was briefed on the progress of work at the first vertical take-off and landing station for air taxis in Dubai.
His Highness said in his official account on the “X” platform: “Today I viewed the progress of work at the first vertical take-off and landing station for air taxis in Dubai, the first of its kind in the world, which was implemented near Dubai International Airport… The station is ready, and it is part of a network that includes stations in Downtown, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina that will be ready by the end of this year.”
His Highness continued: “The first station will serve about 170,000 passengers annually, and we directed that the service be operated and launched to the public during the current year in accordance with the highest international standards.”
His Highness added: “This project is a pivotal step in Dubai’s journey towards pioneering the future of urban mobility globally, shortening time and shortening distances. We thank the Roads and Transport Authority team and the local and international partners for their efforts in completing this qualitative project, which coincides with the first edition of World Public Transport Day on April 17 annually.”
