Google and the Pentagon discuss an artificial intelligence deal

Google is in negotiations with the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) regarding an agreement that would allow the latter to deploy Gemini AI models in secret environments.
The American website “The Information,” which specializes in technology news, reported, citing two informed sources, that the two parties are discussing concluding an agreement that would allow the Pentagon to use artificial intelligence tools from “Google” for all “legitimate uses,” noting that “Google” proposed during the negotiations to add clauses to its contract with the Pentagon, to prevent the use of its artificial intelligence for local mass surveillance or autonomous weapons without human oversight. Suitable.
A US military official said that the department will continue to deploy advanced artificial intelligence capabilities through strong industrial partnerships at all levels, without confirming any talks with Google.
The Alphabet group, which is affiliated with Google, has not yet responded to a request for comment.
Concluding a deal with the Pentagon will help Alphabet expand its government relations, while the United States is working aggressively to integrate artificial intelligence into its operations to reduce costs and speed up administrative work.
