French-Moroccan actress Nadia Fares died on Friday at the age of 57, after she was found unconscious in a Parisian swimming pool a week ago and has since fallen into a coma.

Her daughters, Celia and Shana Chasman, wrote in a letter to Agence France-Presse. "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nadia Fares on Friday. France has lost a great artist, but for us, above all, we have lost a dear mother"

The actress died in the Pitiers-Salpetriere Hospital, where she was admitted on Sunday, after she was recovered unconscious from a swimming pool in a private club in Paris.

Her two creams explained to Agence France-Presse that the cause of death was "Heart attack".

Unfinished business

Nadia Fares was scheduled to begin filming her first feature film as a screenwriter and director next September.

An artistic career spanning decades
