Secretary General "cooperation" He praises the role of the UAE in adopting the decision of the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organization and welcomes its content

RIYADH, April 18 / WAM / His Excellency Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, welcomed the decision of the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organization, which was adopted during its 113th session, and which strongly condemned Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, in addition to its attacks and threats to ships in the region, and its attacks on the territories of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan.

His Excellency also welcomed the Committee’s condemnation of Iran’s threats related to planting mines in the Strait of Hormuz and its surroundings, and the system of fees it imposed on ships crossing the Strait in accordance with reports received in this regard.

His Excellency the Secretary-General praised the role of the United Arab Emirates in preparing this important resolution adopted by the Committee, stressing the importance of the international community implementing this resolution in accordance with international law, and ensuring the passage of ships through the strait without obstacles.
