Saqr Ghobash and the Deputy Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament renew their condemnation of the brutal Iranian attacks

Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, met with Dr. Khamis Attiya, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and the 217th session of the Governing Council, hosted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly in Istanbul, the Republic of Turkey, under the slogan: “Promoting Hope, Ensuring Peace, and Achieving Justice for Future Generations.”
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen the established fraternal relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and prospects for developing parliamentary cooperation, in a way that enhances the effectiveness of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting common interests and consolidating regional stability.
During the meeting, developments in the situation in the region were discussed, as well as the brutal Iranian missile and terrorist attacks that targeted the UAE and a number of brotherly and friendly countries, and their dangerous repercussions on regional and global security and peace, in addition to their dangerous effects on the security of international navigation and on the stability of global energy markets, supply chains and international trade.
The two sides also discussed the Iranian attacks that targeted civilians and civilian facilities and infrastructure in the Emirates and countries of the region, as they represent a violation of international laws and norms and the undermining of regional security and stability.
Saqr Ghobash and Dr. Khamis Attiya condemned the Iranian terrorist attacks, stressing that they constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of states, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations.
Dr. Khamis Attiya, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, reaffirmed the solidarity of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with the UAE regarding all the measures it takes to defend its sovereignty and security, and to ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.
Saqr Ghobash stressed that the UAE, before and during the crisis, adopted a consistent approach based on self-restraint, giving priority to diplomatic solutions, and avoiding engaging in any military escalation, including not allowing its lands or facilities to be used to carry out military operations against any party, based on its firm commitment to supporting regional and international security and stability, ensuring the continuity of the flow of energy supplies, and maintaining the balance of the global economy.
He stressed the UAE’s full solidarity with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the face of any threats to its security and stability, praising the firm Jordanian positions rejecting the unjustified Iranian attacks on its territory and the Arab Gulf states.
He pointed out that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a pivotal strategic partner for the UAE, as bilateral non-oil trade witnessed qualitative growth over the past decade by 138%, which reflects the depth and diversity of the economic partnership.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of unifying positions within the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Arab Parliamentary Union, which contributes to the crystallization of coordinated parliamentary positions that enhance security and stability and serve issues of common interest.
The two sides noted that the Emirati-Jordanian relations are based on a solid foundation of brotherhood and common political understanding, which has been strengthened through decades of close coordination between the leadership of the two countries, embodying a unified strategic vision based on supporting regional stability and enhancing joint Arab action in the face of accelerating challenges.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Mira Sultan Al Suwaidi, Dr. Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi, and Sarah Muhammad Falaknaz, members of the Federal National Council, Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Council, and Tariq Ahmed Al Marzouqi, Assistant Secretary-General for Council Presidency Affairs, in the presence of Saeed Thani Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to Turkey.
