We will continue our efforts to reach a settlement between Washington and Tehran

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday praised US President Donald Trump’s approval of Islamabad’s request to extend the ceasefire with Iran. In a post on his official account in “X”, Sharif said: “We hope that the American and Iranian sides will continue to adhere to the ceasefire.” He added: “We will continue our serious efforts to reach a settlement of the dispute between Washington and Tehran through negotiation.”
Sharif concluded his post by saying: “We hope that the two sides will be able to conclude a comprehensive peace agreement during the second round of the talks scheduled in Islamabad in order to achieve a permanent end to the conflict.”
President Trump said on Tuesday that the United States had agreed to extend the ceasefire with Iran at the request of Pakistan, pending a unified proposal from Tehran.
The announcement came as the US-Iranian talks seemed uncertain and the two-week truce was about to expire on Wednesday.
Trump indicated in a post on the “Truth Social” platform that the US army will continue to blockade Iranian ports.
