Two new gates for “Darb” starting next May 4

The Integrated Transport Center, affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, announced today, Wednesday, the addition of two new gates to the traffic toll system “Darb” in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in a step aimed at enhancing the flow of traffic on main roads, improving the efficiency of using the road network, and reducing congestion, especially during peak periods. The two gates are being implemented and operated in cooperation with QMobility Company.
The center stated that the two gates are located on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Street in the Ghantoot area, and on Wahat Al Karama Street at the entrance and exit of Sheikh Zayed Road. They are scheduled to start operating as of May 4, 2026, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The center stated that it will apply a fee of 4 dirhams for each crossing through the gate, with the continued exemption for one vehicle for the following categories: senior citizens, people of determination, people with limited income, and retired citizens, in accordance with the approved traffic tariff system in the emirate.
The center confirmed that the selection of the locations of the two toll gates was based on specialized traffic studies that took into account the density of traffic, transportation patterns, and the availability of alternative roads in their vicinity, as the Al Qurm toll gate is located on Wahat Al Karama Street at the entrance and exit of Sheikh Zayed Road. Its location allows drivers to use Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street or Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street as alternative routes, while the Ghantoot toll gate is located on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Street in the Ghantoot area. Road users can choose Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Street as an alternative route.
The Integrated Transport Center confirms that the addition of the two gates is part of efforts to develop the road network in the emirate, keeping pace with urban expansion and growing traffic movement. The Center continues to monitor the impact of the new gates through periodic reviews to measure their results and analyze usage patterns, which ensures the effective implementation of the system in accordance with approved traffic requirements.
