The National Agricultural Center signs 5 memorandums of understanding during"UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition"

Al Ain, April 24 / WAM / The UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition 2026 witnessed the signing of 5 strategic memorandums of understanding, in the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahhak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Agricultural Centre.

The memorandums that were signed on the sidelines of the activities of the second day of the conference organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment under the slogan “A comprehensive Emirati agricultural platform… towards societal sustainability and global innovation,” aim to expand the scope of institutional cooperation in the areas of developing agricultural and livestock production, promoting agricultural innovation and sustainable production, supporting research and development, building national capabilities, and employing modern technologies and artificial intelligence, in addition to developing value chains, enhancing resource efficiency, and supporting food security goals in the UAE.

Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said: “The memorandums of understanding signed during the UAE Agricultural Conference and Exhibition 2026 reflect the strategic importance of this event as an effective national platform for expanding qualitative partnerships and enhancing integration between government agencies, national institutions and leading companies, in a way that serves the UAE’s directions in developing the agricultural and food sector on a more sustainable, innovative and efficient basis.”

Her Excellency added that these agreements aim to advance institutional cooperation paths in the areas of developing agricultural and livestock production, supporting research and development, building national capabilities, and expanding the adoption of smart solutions and modern technologies, which contribute to raising production efficiency, developing value chains, and enhancing sustainable food security goals. At the same time, they represent a practical translation of national directions into projects and initiatives with a tangible impact that enhance the sector’s readiness for the future, consolidate its flexibility, and open broader horizons for growth and competitiveness.

The signed agreements included a memorandum of understanding between the National Agricultural Center and the Sharjah Department of Agriculture and Livestock regarding areas of cooperation within the joint tasks of the two sides, in a way that supports the development of the agricultural and livestock sectors, exchanges technical and research expertise, unifies standards and policies regulating the sector, supports agriculture and organic production, ensures the sustainability of natural resources, and applies the best global practices, in a way that enhances food security.

The memorandum was signed by Sultan Salem Al Shamsi, Director of the National Agricultural Center, and Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Engineer, Khalifa Musabah Al Taniji, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah.

The conference also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Agricultural Center and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), with the aim of supporting national efforts in the fields of modern agriculture and sustainability, and transforming the available spaces within the company’s sites into platforms for sustainable agricultural innovation through implementing joint experiments and projects that support food security and contribute to reducing emissions.

Areas of cooperation also include testing smart agriculture technologies, studying the use of alternative resources, such as treated water and renewable energy, and creating innovative agricultural models of an educational and awareness-raising nature, in addition to exchanging information and data to serve research, development and capacity building.

The memorandum was signed by Sultan Salem Al Shamsi, Director of the National Agricultural Center, and Abdul Moneim Mohammed Al Mazrouqi, Executive Vice President of Alternative Growth and Group Value Creation at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

In the same context, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Agricultural Center and Elite Agro Holding Company, to support national efforts in the fields of agricultural innovation and sustainable production, and to develop pioneering agricultural projects that enhance self-sufficiency and competitiveness of the local product, in addition to implementing joint programs and projects, cooperating in operating and managing models of vertical agriculture and greenhouses based on artificial intelligence, testing the latest irrigation and fertilization technologies, and linking local farm production to distribution and marketing networks.

The memorandum was signed by Sultan Salem Al Shamsi and Hassan Halawi, CEO of Elite Agro Holding Group.

The memorandums also included a memorandum of understanding between the National Agricultural Center and NRTC, with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of local agricultural products by establishing sustainable distribution and marketing channels that link the outputs of national farms to the company’s distribution network, in a way that supports farmers’ returns and enhances food security, in addition to exchanging experiences, implementing joint projects, building national capabilities, and ensuring that products adhere to approved health standards.

The memorandum was signed by the Director of the National Agricultural Center, and Muhammad Nassar Al-Rifai, CEO of the NRTC Group.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Agricultural Center and Al Baraka Dates Factory, with the aim of supporting farmers, facilitating the supply of their crops, improving the efficiency of collection and supply chains, enhancing the marketing of dates and expanding the base of suppliers and local producers, thus contributing to the development of the date sector and raising the competitiveness of the local product.

Areas of cooperation also include implementing initiatives and programs to develop local agricultural production, promoting national products, and launching campaigns and initiatives that enhance the position of the local product in the food security system.

The memorandum was signed by the Director of the National Agricultural Center and Youssef Salim, Executive Director of Al Baraka Dates Factory.

The memorandums of understanding witnessed at the conference highlight the importance of institutional partnerships in developing the agricultural and food sector, by expanding areas of cooperation and enhancing integration between innovation, production and sustainability, in a way that supports building a more efficient and flexible system, and serves the state’s directions in establishing sustainable food security and an agricultural sector that is more prepared for the future.
