“Ports”: Adding a new shipping service to Jeddah Islamic Port


The General Ports Authority announced "“Ports” about adding a company "China United Lines” new shipping service "SGX” to Jeddah Islamic Port.

The new shipping service contributes to strengthening the Kingdom’s connection to global markets, raising the efficiency of supply chains, and supporting the movement of trade through the Red Sea as one of the most important global sea lanes.

The new shipping service works to connect Jeddah Islamic Port with the ports of Shanghai and Nansha in China, as well as in Malaysia and Sokhna in Egypt, with a capacity of up to 2,452 standard containers.

This comes within efforts "“Ports” to enhance the Kingdom’s ranking in global performance indicators, in a way that supports the movement of national exports, in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, to consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global logistical center, and a hub connecting the three continents.

It is noteworthy that the Jeddah Islamic Port includes 62 multi-purpose berths, a logistics services area for deposits and re-exports, and a direct transport system via trucks to and from the port, in addition to a number of specialized stations and advanced equipment that include two handling stations. Containers, and a group of berths for marine services, with a capacity of up to 130 million tons
