End of September: the end of the deadline for “municipalities” to improve the urban landscape with vacant lands

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing called on owners of vacant lands to maintain the cleanliness of their lands and adhere to municipal requirements and controls, in a way that contributes to improving the urban landscape and reducing visual distortions in cities.
The Ministry explained that it had begun implementing a comprehensive awareness phase inside and outside urban areas in various cities of the Kingdom, with the aim of raising the level of compliance among owners, in preparation for strengthening field supervision after the expiration of the deadline set on 4/15/1448, corresponding to September 27. 2026.
It indicated that these efforts are part of initiatives to improve the urban landscape, and include addressing aspects of the illegal use of vacant lands, such as exploiting them for irregular commercial purposes, or converting them into sites for collecting construction waste and excavation products, or using them as parking lots for vehicles and machinery in illegal ways, due to their negative effects on the urban environment and quality of life.
The Ministry confirmed that the secretariats and municipalities will begin intensifying field monitoring and follow-up work after the end of the awareness period, With the aim of raising the level of compliance and reducing violations, thus enhancing the quality of the urban environment and enhancing the attractiveness of cities.
