The Federation Cup will launch the basketball season next September

The Basketball Association announced the “Federation Cup” tournament system, which represents the first competition for the new season 2026-2027, and will start next September 10 with the participation of seven clubs.

The tournament will be held in four rounds, starting with the group stage, which is held in a home-and-away system, leading to the elimination rounds, which include the quarter-finals and semi-finals, before the final match is held to determine the identity of the champion.

The Basketball Association explained that the seven teams were distributed into two groups, where the first group included Shabab Al-Ahly, Al-Wasl and Al-Bataeh clubs, while Al-Nasr, Sharjah, Al-Wahda and Al-Jazira clubs came in the second group.

The winner of Group Two qualifies directly to the semi-finals, while the rest of the teams, according to their final ranking in the group stage, which concludes next October 12, will compete in the quarter-finals in a single-match knockout system.

The Federation indicated that the matches of the first leg of the group stage will be held without the participation of the national team players, and the regulations also allow the participation of three “non-citizen” players during this stage.
