Mohammed bin Rashid approves the launch of the national program to enhance the flexibility of supply chains in the Emirates

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, approved the launch of the national program to enhance the flexibility of supply chains in the UAE, as it is an essential pillar for enhancing economic security, supporting global competitiveness, and consolidating the national ability to adapt and sustain in the long term.

The program aims to secure the community’s needs for food, medical and industrial commodities in the face of global challenges, through an integrated approach that includes diversifying import sources, supporting local manufacturing and agriculture in partnership with the private sector, expanding international partnerships, ensuring the continuity of the availability of basic commodities, and consolidating the proactive efforts of the UAE in dealing with the challenges facing supply chains, by building an integrated national system that guarantees sustainable access to vital commodities, and raises the country’s readiness to deal with various regional and global circumstances.

The program focuses on identifying priority vital products for the UAE, assessing their exposure to import risks, identifying markets and strategic sources for their supply, working to conclude partnership relationships to enhance supply continuity, exploring opportunities for expansion in agricultural production and local manufacturing, in addition to studying investment opportunities in key sectors in a way that contributes to ensuring the sustainability of supply chains and creating long-term international partnerships with parties capable of producing and supplying on a large scale.

The program also focuses on studying scenarios related to these commodities and their suppliers, studying the possibility of cultivating or manufacturing the vital commodity within the Emirates, and enhancing investment opportunities with partner countries related to the production of these commodities.

The Minister of Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, said on this occasion that the launch of this program comes in implementation of the vision of the wise leadership of the UAE and its directives to continue working to enhance the flexibility of supply chains, as it is a basic pillar in line with national priorities and ensuring the availability of vital goods and the continuity of trade flows to and from the country, as the UAE is keen, through an integrated proactive system and a clear strategy, to diversify its sources of imports, expand its trade and investment partnerships around the world, and enhance cooperation with international partners, which contributes to Securing sustainable access to vital goods.
