Two American soldiers were lost during the African Lion maneuvers in Morocco

The US Africa Command and the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces said on Sunday that two American soldiers participating in the African Lion 2026 exercise went missing near the Cap Draa training area, which is located near the Moroccan city of Tan-Tan, yesterday, Saturday.

The two sides added in separate statements that the American, Moroccan and other forces affiliated with the African Lion maneuvers command began coordinated search and rescue operations on land, air and sea.

The Moroccan army said that they were lost near a rocky cliff. The two sides indicated in the statements that the incident is still under investigation and research is ongoing.
