Iran has attacked American forces more than 10 times since the ceasefire

Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kaine said on Tuesday that Iran has launched more than 10 attacks on US forces since the ceasefire began nearly a month ago.

Kane said at a press conference in Washington that since the truce entered into force on April 8, Iran has also fired on commercial ships nine times and detained two container ships.

Kane described these incidents as still “below the threshold for the resumption of major combat operations at this stage.”

Kane, the highest-ranking military officer in the United States, pointed out that yesterday, Monday alone, Iran launched one attack on Oman and three attacks on the United Arab Emirates.

He said that Iranian forces also used cruise missiles, drones, and speedboats against American forces working to restore commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that American attack helicopters succeeded in repelling the attacks.

“So far, today seems calmer,” Kane said.

Kane said that Iranian attacks in the region caused about 22,500 sailors to be stranded on board more than 1,550 commercial ships in the Gulf.

Kane stated that American forces established an expanded security zone in the southern part of the strait, near Oman. US land, sea and air units are protecting the area to deter any further Iranian attacks on commercial shipping.

At the same press conference, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth described the effort as a “powerful red, white and blue dome” over the Strait of Hormuz.
