Business Development Director at the Emirati company Orbit Works, Salem Al-Alawi, said that the “Make in the Emirates” platform represented a launch for the company, which participated for the first time in the event last year, and was in its infancy, while today the company has achieved major achievements, including the inauguration of a satellite factory in the “Kizad” industrial area in Abu Dhabi, with a capacity of 50 satellites annually. The manufacturing of the first satellite constellation consisting of 10 Earth observation satellites has also begun, and some Contracts with local and international entities, including the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy, affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group.

He added: “We also succeeded in concluding an agreement with a French entity, as the first local company to work with a very advanced country in the field of space, such as France,” revealing current discussions with several African and Asian countries to manufacture their own satellites, for the sustainability of their economy and security.

Al-Alawi added to Emirates Today, on the sidelines of “Made in the Emirates,” that all these steps indicate confidence in the UAE’s industry, pointing out that recent events have proven farsightedness and correct planning to ensure security and sustainability of operations.
