Abu Dhabi, 6 May / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Tawazun Council for Defense Empowerment, confirmed that the anniversary of the unification of the armed forces represents a historic decision that embodied the wisdom of the Emirati leadership, and established a basic rule in building the state, which is that the strength of the nation begins with the unity of its institutions and the solidity of its defensive shield.

He said in a statement on this national occasion that this anniversary takes on an exceptional dimension this year, as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the decision to unify the armed forces, in its golden jubilee, which represents a station for contemplation of the process of half a century of accumulated construction and continuous development.

He added that the anniversary of the unification of the armed forces of the United Arab Emirates is one of the historical milestones that embodied the foresight of the leadership when it decided to unify the military energies of the state under the banner of one nation and one leadership, so that the armed forces would be a shield that protects the nation and preserves its achievements and development path.

He explained that the decision to unify the armed forces constituted a turning point in building the modern UAE, as it laid the foundation for a cohesive, professional military system capable of protecting the state’s sovereignty and maintaining its security and stability in a region characterized by its geopolitical sensitivity and changing complexities.

He pointed out that this system has continued its development process over five decades, moving from the establishment stage to the empowerment stage, and from building capabilities to employing them within a comprehensive strategic vision that enhances the country’s position regionally and internationally.

He said that the national occasion, in its fiftieth year, comes at a time when the world and the region are witnessing rapid transformations and renewed challenges, to reaffirm the correctness of the vision on which the process of unifying the armed forces was based, noting that this step has become a successful model in building an integrated military force capable of adapting to changes and facing challenges with high efficiency.

He added that the recent events targeting the security of the UAE revealed the level of maturity and readiness reached by the military and security institutions, and the solidity of the defense system that the wise leadership built through long years of continuous work and strategic planning.

He stressed that the high levels of readiness, coordination and integration demonstrated by the armed forces and security services reflects the outcome of fifty years of accumulated institutional work, based on long-term strategic planning and continuous investment in people and technology.

He explained that the UAE Armed Forces were based on a solid professional doctrine based on continuous training, absorbing lessons from the field, and employing technology intelligently and efficiently, until it became one of the most professional military institutions in the region.

He said that the UAE was keen, in parallel with advanced military construction, to consolidate the concept of defense empowerment as one of the basic pillars of national security, in light of a world in which military power intersects with industrial and technological capacity.

He added that possession of weapons is no longer the only criterion for power, but rather the ability to develop and manufacture them and enhance the independence of strategic decisions has become an essential part of the modern deterrence equation, pointing out that the Balance Council for Defense Empowerment will continue its role in supporting the national defense system by strengthening the defense industrial base and developing strategic partnerships with the state’s partners, which contributes to building sustainable national capabilities that enhance the state’s readiness to face various challenges.

He pointed out that recent events also highlighted an honorable image that reflects the nature of Emirati society and its human values, through the feelings of trust, reassurance and loyalty expressed by residents of the country towards the homeland.

He stressed that the confidence of citizens and residents in the UAE, its leadership and its institutions represents an important national asset and evidence of the depth of the model that the country has succeeded in building, where security is integrated with development, and the strength of institutions meets the cohesion of society.

He said that this national occasion, and its golden jubilee, represents a station for reading an upward path that confirms that what was built over fifty years constitutes a basis for a more ambitious move towards the future, pointing out that the first half century was the stage of establishment and empowerment, while what follows represents the stage of consolidating the position and maximizing the impact in a world in which the importance of comprehensive readiness and integration between military power and industrial and technological capacity is increasing.

He concluded by praying that God would preserve the leadership and people of the UAE, and grant it the blessing of security and stability, and that its armed forces would remain, in its second half century, a symbol of strength, discipline and professionalism, and a firm support for the nation’s march towards a safer and more prosperous future.
