World Cup ticket prices are in the crosshairs of Trump’s criticism… “I will not pay these prices.”

US President Donald Trump criticized the prices of tickets for the 2026 World Cup, considering them exaggerated.

Trump’s statements came during a telephone interview with the New York Post, after the issue of high ticket prices was raised, which may exceed 5,000 pounds sterling for fans wishing to follow all of their team’s matches until the final.

According to The Sun newspaper, Trump said: “I did not know about these numbers…and frankly, I will not pay these prices either,” adding: “If people from Queens and Brooklyn, and everyone who loves Donald Trump, cannot attend the matches, I will be disappointed.”

For his part, FIFA President Gianni Infantino defended the high prices, stressing that the American market is “the largest and most developed in the field of entertainment,” noting that the resale of tickets on the black market forces FIFA to adopt high prices from the beginning.

The FIFA President added that 25% of group stage tickets will be available for less than $300, considering this price to be “normal” compared to the prices of major sporting events in the United States.

Infantino’s statements also sparked controversy after he joked that he would personally offer a “hot dog and a soft drink” to anyone who bought a final ticket worth two million dollars.
