Al Dhafra Municipality reviews proper grazing procedures for the 2026 season
Al Dhafra, May 8 / WAM / Al Dhafra Municipality participated in an expanded awareness session in the “Al Dhafra Councils”, targeting camel owners and breeders in the region.
The session, organized by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority and the Al Dhafra Region Municipality, comes as part of a series of community initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and supporting the livestock sector in the emirate.
The sessions shed light on the proper grazing procedures adopted for the 2026 season, while clarifying the dimensions of the exceptional decision to advance the date of the grazing season, a decision that came in response to the needs of breeders and an embodiment of the continuous support provided by the wise leadership for this vital sector.
Saif Al Hameli, Director of the Municipal Presence Center – Madinat Zayed, from the Al Dhafra Region Municipality, confirmed to the Emirates News Agency that these meetings come within an ongoing transportation plan that included (Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi, and Al Sila), with the aim of establishing a culture of responsible grazing.
He said: “Our focus is on directing the people of the region towards sustainable grazing methods and adherence to farms documented in official contracts, in addition to raising awareness of the correct procedures for waste disposal. We also stress the need to stay away from residential areas, petroleum installations, and public roads to ensure everyone’s safety and protect the infrastructure.”
He praised the level of awareness and commitment of the attendees, pointing out that the ultimate goal is to sustain the land and ensure renewal of the vegetation cover, as the municipality seeks, by identifying the locations of the landfills and clarifying the grazing paths, to ensure that the sites remain clean and suitable for mutual use between breeders in different seasons.
