The UAE National Orchestra performs the concert "Your fortress, my homeland"

Dubai, May 10, 2017 (WAM) – The National Orchestra of the United Arab Emirates performed a distinguished concert entitled “Your Fortress, O Homeland,” which was held at the Dubai Opera Theater and witnessed a massive audience attendance. It included the presentation of a group of songs that were linked to the memory of different generations as part of an evening that celebrated music, culture, and national identity.

The ceremony witnessed great interaction from the audience, who participated with the orchestra and its choir in singing a group of the most prominent Emirati national songs, which gave the evening an atmosphere of interaction and group participation.

The highlights of the concert included a segment by Emirati singer and composer Hussein Al Jasmi, during which he performed the song “Loyal Falcons.”

The concert program included a selection of well-known national musical works extending from the 1970s to the present, including songs that form an integral part of the cultural fabric of the United Arab Emirates, such as Dar Zayed, We Will Protect the Union, and Khasim Al Dar.

The most prominent parts of the ceremony included the presentation of the song “Men, God is Men”, which is a poem from the poetry of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, in honor of those heroes who are dedicated to protecting the homeland.

Sheikha Alia bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Director General of the National Orchestra of the United Arab Emirates, said: The evening of “Your Fortress, O Homeland” was a sincere tribute to the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates, coinciding with the fiftieth anniversary of the unification of our armed forces. She added that the artist Hussein Al Jasmi’s joining the orchestra gave the stage a distinctive artistic dimension, making this moment more intimate and influential for the audience, noting that the scene of the audience singing in one voice with the orchestra was one of the most powerful moments during the evening, because it carried feelings of pride, belonging and unity.

She explained that the National Orchestra of the United Arab Emirates seeks, through these works, to re-present national songs in a contemporary orchestral form, in which music becomes a space that brings people together and expresses their patriotic feelings, pointing out that music has always been part of the Emirates’ memory, carrying meanings of belonging and steadfastness, and reflecting the spirit of cohesion and solidarity that characterizes Emirati society in different circumstances.

For his part, artist Hussein Al Jasmi said: “I am pleased to be here tonight with the National Orchestra of the United Arab Emirates in the “Fortress, O Homeland” concert, this exceptional night that expresses steadfastness and pride in the nation. This concert expresses the faith of a firm nation that values ​​the role of arts and culture in expressing identity and belonging, and I am honored to be among the ranks of this distinguished national cultural institution.”
