“Our work is not over” on the Hanta virus

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said today that the “work” of the health authorities “is not over yet,” despite the successful evacuation of more than a hundred passengers and crew members from the ship “MV Hondius,” which was hit by the Hantavirus in recent weeks.

“Our work is not over yet,” Ghebreyesus said in a joint press conference with the Spanish Prime Minister in Madrid, the day after the end of the evacuations that were carried out under very strict protection measures, warning that “other cases may appear in the coming weeks… given the long incubation period of the virus.”

Ghebreyesus hoped that “countries would follow his advice and recommendations” regarding this virus.
