“Jaheziya” launches the first national initiative to qualify Emirati nurses with international standards

The Emirates Preparedness and Response Program “Jaheziya” launched the “Emirates Nurses” initiative in an initiative that is the first of its kind to build national leaders from national nursing cadres, and qualify them as internationally accredited nurses from the most prominent universities and international training centers, according to a unified and integrated approach in the field of preparedness and emergency response.

The initiative, which was launched to coincide with International Nurses Day, is being implemented in partnership with the European Center for Disaster Medicine, the American Foundation for Nursing, the American College of Family Medicine, the American Society for Critical Care, and the American Foundation for Emergency Services, and in coordination with educational, academic, health, ambulance, police, civil defense and emergency institutions.

The CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, Chairman of the Emirates Doctors Initiative, and CEO of the Emirates Readiness Program, Dr. Adel Al-Shammari Al-Ajmi, said that the “Emirates Nurses” initiative will work as national accelerators in the field of readiness and response for nursing cadres through specialized training approved institutionally and socially, and conducting research aimed at developing nurses’ competencies, improving critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills, promoting continuous professional development, and contributing to retaining qualified nursing staff and raising their level of efficiency.

The head of the Emirates Nurses Initiative, Fatima Al-Hathithi, indicated that the initiative comes from the keenness of Emirati nurses to adopt a national platform for accelerators that contributes to the development of the nursing sector through internationally accredited specialized training, providing a stimulating environment for innovation and creativity, and highlighting the strategic importance of the nursing profession in health care systems and its pivotal role in supporting comprehensive health coverage.

Director of the Nurse Training Program at the American Nursing Foundation, Emily Boren, said that the initiative established the first national nursing academy in the country, and provided accredited training courses and practical workshops using simulation and virtual reality techniques, in addition to organizing a series of nursing forums and live exercises in the field of preparedness and emergency response, which are mandatory for practicing the profession in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, and the Dubai Health Authority.

Al-Anoud Al-Ajmi, director of the National Program for the Development of Medical Nursing Competencies (Kafaat), stressed the keenness to invest in the nursing profession in line with the directives of the wise leadership, while allocating the necessary budgets to increase the training capacity of nursing cadres, improving the quality of education and training, and providing financial and human resources in coordination with health institutions, in a way that contributes to raising national preparedness and enhancing emergency response, with accreditation from more than ten of the most prominent international universities and training centers.
