The Arab Parliament condemns the hijacking of an oil tanker with a number of Egyptian sailors on board

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, condemned the hijacking of an oil tanker in Yemeni territorial waters and taking it to the territorial waters of Somalia, with a number of Egyptian sailors on board, stressing that it is a criminal act that contravenes all international legal and humanitarian conventions and represents a grave violation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
In a statement issued today, Al-Yamahi affirmed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with the Arab Republic of Egypt and its support for its efforts to release the Egyptian sailors, ensure their safety, and secure their return, calling on the international community to put an end to these dangerous criminal acts that threaten the security and stability of international maritime navigation.
