Global demand for electric cars rose for the second month

London, May 13 / WAM Global demand for electric vehicles rose for the second month in a row in April, as high gasoline prices continued to keep buyers away from gas-powered cars.

Data reported by the consulting firm Benchmark Mineral Intelligence indicated that registration of new battery-powered electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles increased by six percent in April over the same month of the previous year to reach 1.6 million, which is an indicator of sales. However, registration declined. Nine percent below the highest monthly record level recorded in March.
