Austria supports the acceleration of European trade agreements with the UAE and international partners

VIENNA, May 23, 2017 (WAM) – Austrian Minister of Economy, Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, called for accelerating the pace of negotiations and removing obstacles to enhancing trade cooperation with the UAE and international partners.
He welcomed the deepening of the economic partnership between Europe and Mexico, and the extension of the trade agreement that has existed between the two sides since 2000.
Minister Hattmannsdorfer stressed the importance of focusing on raising Europe’s competitiveness by expanding the network of free trade agreements, and called for accelerating the pace of work and expanding areas of economic partnership with international partners and Southeast Asian countries, noting that Austrian and European companies would benefit from expanding partnerships.
For her part, Martha Schulz, President of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Economics, considered the modernization of the European agreement with Mexico a pillar that facilitates the trade of Austrian companies with an important foreign market, and she expected that it would provide a strong boost to the bilateral trade movement and new commercial opportunities for Austrian companies, in the most important export market in Latin America.
The Federation of Austrian Industries also welcomed the signing of the agreement, considering it “an important step towards strengthening European trade relations.” The Federation’s Secretary General, Christoph Neumayer, expected that this step would improve European companies’ access to foreign markets.
