"Abu Dhabi Economy" An initiative to empower entrepreneurial families is launched in Al Ain

ABU DHABI, May 23 / WAM / The Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Councils of the Office of Citizens and Community Affairs in the Presidential Office and the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, launched the “Entrepreneurial Families” initiative in the Al Ain region in order to enable families to participate more effectively in the emirate’s economic system, in line with Abu Dhabi’s efforts aimed at enhancing and empowering human capital to transform ideas into successful and sustainable projects.

The initiative provides a series of awareness workshops in several locations in the Al Ain region, including guidance on establishing businesses, licensing procedures, and mechanisms for benefiting from integrated government support services available within the business environment in Abu Dhabi. The initiative will be implemented through community platforms in partnership with Abu Dhabi councils, ensuring direct communication with the target groups.

This initiative comes within Abu Dhabi Economy’s ongoing efforts to empower small and medium-sized companies, enhance private sector participation, and support sustainable economic growth and diversification, by facilitating entry into markets, enhancing awareness of regulatory procedures, and expanding the base of participation in economic activities.

The workshops were designed to provide participants with the necessary knowledge to organize and develop their commercial activities, in addition to raising awareness of the regulatory frameworks and services provided by the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA), the arm of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi to develop and regulate the business sector, ensuring ease of doing business and compliance throughout the emirate.

The workshops include important topics including business registration, licensing requirements, and a package of support services consistent with Abu Dhabi’s vision of building a diversified economy based on knowledge, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Following the workshops, specialized training programs will be organized in the Al Ain region throughout the year, focusing on qualifying participants in areas such as e-commerce and financial management. To keep pace with economic transformations, the program will highlight the opportunities available in the digital economy and priority sectors.

His Excellency Hamad Sayyah Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, said that the “Entrepreneurial Families” initiative reflects the department’s commitment to ensuring broader participation in the economic development process in Abu Dhabi, and enhancing the position of the emirate’s competitive, diversified and sustainable economy to build the future.

He added that the Al Ain region plays a pivotal role in the department’s strategy to accelerate growth and economic diversification, as it continues to attract new business and investments in various sectors, with a 29% increase recorded in the number of new economic licenses issued in the Al Ain region during the year 2025.

For his part, His Excellency Mohammed Al Shaiba Al Sheriani, Acting Director General of Economic Affairs at the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, said that the launch of this initiative was carried out in cooperation with the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, the Abu Dhabi Councils in the Office of Citizens and Community Affairs in the Presidential Office, and a number of actors in the field of e-commerce, ensuring greater interaction with the community throughout the emirate, and providing the necessary skills and knowledge through specialized experts.

He added that the goal of this initiative is to enable participants to benefit from the integrated system and environment that supports business, as it was designed in accordance with best practices and experiences that highlight the role of empowering individuals and families in promoting comprehensive development, providing job opportunities, increasing productivity, and driving economic growth.
