Tight controls on military exports to protect national security
The General Authority for Military Industries presented on a survey platform the second version of the military export control and control policy for the year 2026. This comes with the aim of protecting national interests and ensuring commitment to The AuthorityThis step aims to establish precise mechanisms and governance that prevent the access of controlled materials or their technical data to unauthorized parties. It also seeks to support National products and enabling local enterprises to access global markets reliably and sustainably. The document revealed that its provisions apply to all operations to remove materials from the Kingdom, whether permanently or temporarily. It stressed the application of controls even on products not included in the official lists if their purpose is military use, or directed to an intelligence agency, or a country subject to international sanctions. The regulatory policy warned against exporting any shipment that includes controlled materials, or if confirmed or potential information is available regarding their use for purposes that threaten the national security of the Kingdom.
4 basic principles
The regulatory methodology in this regard is based on four basic principles, including commitment, stability, governance, and sustainability. According to these principles, the behavior of the destination country towards the international community and its position on terrorism are verified, to ensure that sensitive technologies are not re-exported to organizations hostile to the Kingdom. The regulatory policy assigned the General Authority for Military Industries broad powers that include monitoring and supervision, issuing, suspending or canceling export permits, and implementing inspection tours in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
Anticipated decision
The legislation pointed to an expected decision to form a specialized committee by decision of the Board of Directors that will exclusively consider and decide on applications for export permits. The regulatory document indicated that the new policy will officially begin one hundred and twenty days after the date of its approval. In the same context, she pointed out that the Board of Directors was granted the authority to extend the effective period whenever the public interest or the interest of the military industries sector required it.
