"G42" The Government of India establishes the commercial framework for the supercomputer project "Condor Galaxy India" for artificial intelligence

ABU DHABI, 15th May, 2018 (WAM) — G42, the global technology group headquartered in Abu Dhabi, and the Government of India have set the framework and commercial terms for the implementation of the Condor Galaxy India project, an 8-exaflop AI supercomputing complex comprising 64 Cerebras CS-3 systems.
The agreement was exchanged by His Excellency Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and CEO of G42, and His Excellency Vikram Misri, Undersecretary of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, during the official visit made by His Excellency Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, to the UAE today, in a step that represents a prominent milestone in the path of deepening the strategic and technological partnership between the UAE and the Republic of India.
On this occasion, His Excellency Mansour Al Mansouri said that India is one of the most prominent innovative economies in the world, and the implementation of a copy of the “G42” intelligence network of this size and in a market of this importance embodies the practical application of the transformation based on artificial intelligence, as we are working to provide an infrastructure that transforms energy and computing capabilities into intelligence subject to sovereign governance frameworks on a national scale.
Under this framework, G42, in partnership with the Indian Center for the Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), will be responsible for installing, implementing, operating and maintaining the system, and the “Condor Galaxy India” supercomputer will be one of the largest computing complexes for artificial intelligence in India, and a fundamental pillar that supports the country’s ambitions in the field of sovereign artificial intelligence.
The complex will form the basis of a new phase of joint research and development in sectors including health, genomics, energy and geospatial analytics, enabling researchers and institutions from both countries, along with emerging innovators in India, to develop advanced science and address some of the most important challenges affecting our time.
The Condor Galaxy India AI supercomputer will run on Cerebras CS-3 systems, built on the company’s “Wafer Scale Engine” technology.
Cerebras recently completed one of the most prominent initial public offerings in the artificial intelligence sector, by listing its shares on the Nasdaq market under the symbol CBRS, reflecting strong confidence in the artificial intelligence infrastructure sector.
The implementation of Condor Galaxy India represents an extension of the strategic partnership between G42 and Cerebras, which together operate several supercomputing parks in the US within the Condor Galaxy network, while expanding the network’s presence into one of the world’s most important emerging markets.
