The UAE is the third country in the world to adopt “Maybo” drops, an innovative treatment for dry eyes

The Emirates Pharmaceutical Corporation announced the approval of Mibo, a treatment designed to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease from Bausch & Lomb, which contains the active ingredient perfluorohexyloctane, in a step that enhances patients in the UAE’s access to the latest pharmaceutical innovations in the field of eye health.

Maybo is the first medical eye drop that directly targets tear evaporation, which is considered one of the main causes of dry eye disease, as it helps improve the stability of the tear film and alleviate the symptoms associated with it.

Under this accreditation, the UAE has become the third country in the world to approve the use of the drug, which reflects its approach to accelerating the availability of modern therapeutic technologies and enhancing the efficiency of the pharmaceutical system in accordance with the highest international standards.

The approval was based on the positive results of two clinical studies, “GOBI” and “MOJAVE,” which included more than 1,200 patients, where the results showed a statistically significant improvement in the signs and symptoms of this disease during the treatment period.

Dry eye disease is a common health condition that affects millions of people around the world, and its symptoms may affect visual comfort and quality of life, which reinforces the importance of developing and providing innovative treatment options that target the main causes of the disease and contribute to improving health care outcomes.
