The United States ends the exemption from sanctions for Russian oil transported by sea

Washington, May 17 / WAM / The administration of US President Donald Trump has ended the exemption from sanctions that it granted to some countries to purchase Russian seaborne oil, after extending it for a month with the aim of alleviating the shortage of oil supplies and the rise in prices resulting from Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Besent said earlier that he would not renew the general license that allows the purchase of Russian oil stored on tankers.
