Ahmed bin Saeed witnesses the graduation of the 15th batch from the University "Rochester Technology – Dubai"

Dubai, May 20, WAM / Under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIZ), the Rochester University of Technology – Dubai, which is headquartered in Dubai Silicon Oasis, which falls under the umbrella of “DIES”, celebrated the graduation of its fifteenth batch of students, which included 394 male and female graduates from 16 academic programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.

The ceremony, which was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, was attended by His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, Director General of Digital Dubai and a member of the University’s Board of Directors, and His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni, CEO of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIZ), is a member of the University’s Board of Directors, His Excellency Issa Kazim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DP World Group, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Center, is a member of the University’s Board of Directors, Robert Raines, Consul General of the United States of America in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and Dr. Youssef Al-Assaf, President of the University, along with a number of senior officials, academic figures, representatives of government and private agencies, members of the administrative and teaching bodies, and students’ families.

On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: “The graduation of a new batch of students from Rochester University of Technology – Dubai represents an important milestone in the process of preparing competencies capable of keeping pace with the transformations of the future, and actively participating in building an economy based on knowledge, innovation and advanced technology, in line with the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071, the We Are the Emirates 2031 vision, and Dubai’s ambitions to consolidate its position as a global center for opportunities and creating the future.”

His Highness added: “At Dies, we view advanced education as one of the main enablers to enhance Dubai’s competitiveness and readiness for the future, and we are proud of the growing role that the University of Rochester Technology – Dubai is achieving in preparing a generation that possesses the tools of the times and is capable of transforming knowledge into economic and societal value. We are betting on these graduates to be part of Dubai’s journey towards a new stage of leadership and global excellence.”

In turn, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni said: “Our partnership with Rochester University of Technology – Dubai reflects the vision of DIES in building an integrated economic system that not only attracts companies and investments, but also works to provide the knowledge and skill environment that future sectors need for growth and sustainability, in a way that supports Dubai’s role in the global economy based on innovation.”

Al Zarouni added: “The graduation of this batch represents an extension of DIES’ role through Dubai Silicon Oasis as a region specialized in knowledge and innovation, and an incubator for education, technology and entrepreneurship. The university contributes to supplying the business system with qualified competencies, and supports Dubai’s ability to build human capital capable of leading digital transformation, developing smart solutions, and enhancing productivity in vital sectors.”

For his part, Dr. Youssef Al-Assaf said: “Today we celebrate an exceptional batch of male and female graduates from 16 academic programs, which reflects the university’s continuous growth and confirms its ability to develop educational programs that keep pace with the rapid transformations in the labor market, and give students the knowledge, skills and confidence to move from their studies to the fields of influence and production.”

Al-Assaf added: “This year witnesses the graduation of the first batch of psychology program students, in addition to the university’s continued expansion in offering new academic programs and tracks that anticipate the needs of the future, and development and research centers in the fields of energy, sustainability, smart cities, materials, advanced manufacturing, anticipating the future, and managing complexities. We will continue to work on developing an educational environment that stimulates research, testing, and innovation, and consolidates the university’s role as a platform for preparing competencies capable of serving the UAE, the Emirate of Dubai, and the region.”

The majors of the graduates of the fifteenth batch were distributed among 16 academic programs, including 9 bachelor’s programs in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, marketing, global business administration, finance, cybersecurity, computing and information technologies, and psychology.

The batch also included graduates of 7 master’s programs in data analysis, smart cities, future foresight and planning, mechanical engineering, engineering management, electrical engineering, and cybersecurity, reflecting the diversity of academic paths offered by the university and its direct connection to priority future sectors.

The total number of graduates from Rochester University of Technology – Dubai in bachelor’s, master’s and diploma programs since 2010 has exceeded more than 2,490 male and female graduates, an indication of the university’s continued growth and its increasing role in supporting the higher education system and preparing competencies in Dubai and the UAE.

This year’s ceremony holds special significance with the graduation of the first batch of psychology program students, which reflects the university’s expansion in offering specific specializations that keep pace with the growing needs of society and the labor market, and support building a deeper understanding of the human and behavioral factors related to quality of life, productivity, and institutional development.

This year, Rochester University of Technology – Dubai launched two new academic programs at the bachelor’s level, namely Management Information Systems and Advertising and Public Relations, in a step that enhances the diversity of its programs and supports the development of competencies that combine technical knowledge, institutional communication, and understanding of the requirements of the digital economy.

The university has also offered accredited mini-master’s programs with academic hours in health informatics and future foresight, allowing students who continue their studies there to gain academic hours that count toward a full master’s program, providing more flexible educational paths linked to professional development needs.

The university also launched the dual degree program in engineering, which allows students to complete bachelor’s and master’s degrees within a shorter period of time and at a lower cost, which enhances the efficiency of the academic path and gives students greater ability to enter the labor market with advanced qualifications.

The university’s future plans include offering a master’s program in integrative design and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, and accredited mini-programs with academic hours in accounting and financial analysis, as part of its continuous direction to develop programs that respond to the priorities of the new economy and support sectors based on data, design, innovation, and financial analysis, as well as a new media design program dedicated to people of determination.

It is noteworthy that the University of Rochester Technology – Dubai is a branch of the University of Rochester Technology in New York, and offers accredited American academic programs in the UAE, within an advanced educational environment linked to the Dubai economic and knowledge system, and provides students with broad opportunities to acquire applied knowledge and practical experience.

The university continues to strengthen its role as an academic center supporting innovation and advanced technology, through its specialized programs and partnerships with the government and private sectors, which contributes to supporting Dubai’s vision of building a diversified and sustainable economy based on future knowledge and skills.
